For grants, Workday’s “just in time” training philosophy means the time for training is right now. Although system-wide Workday training isn’t scheduled to begin until early August, grants specialists from across the system are receiving specialized training this week and next in seminars held in the north and in the south. Training on grants processes is underway months in advance of the rest of the training schedule because many institutions record and track grants using countless file cabinets full of paper documents. Grants specialists are learning the Workday processes they will use to tackle the arduous task of entering all those paper-based records by hand into Workday before it goes live in October.
